Wilderness
Red Sandstone was formed about 345 to 395 million years ago and because of
the tremendous force applied all that time ago it has left us with this
wonderful 45 degree rock face that shows the various layers of the stone.
Wilderness Red Sandstone is the hardest of all the sandstones and because of
its fine grain makes it a very good stone for carving, because of its very
good frost heave report and in its loose form compaction rating test we
supply a lot of aggregate to the Builder / landscape Gardener / and civil
engineer.
In the quarry we are also fortunate to have beds of the uniquely named and
very popular Streaky bacon , This is Red on Grey vain and has a
somewhat marble affect that is very unique and stunning when it is
sawn for slabs or blocks for carving.
We can supply raw block up to about 40 tons and sawn block of around10 tons
but as you look thru our website you will see that we do produce a vast
range of products from our stone, please feel free to email and ask
any questions about our products. if you have an idea in your mind of a
certain design then let us know and let us make that idea happen for you.
