About the quarry

Information

Wilderness Red Sandstone was formed about 345 to 395 million years ago and because of the tremendous force applied all that time ago it has left us with this wonderful 45 degree rock face that shows the various layers of the stone.

Wilderness Red Sandstone is the hardest of all the sandstones and because of its fine grain makes it a very good stone for carving, because of its very good frost heave report and in its loose form compaction rating test we supply a lot of aggregate to the Builder / landscape Gardener / and civil engineer.
